Does anyone have any information on Lucy Fiyopa. I am looking for her parents names and any information on brothers and sisters.

Lucy's last name on the 1886 census typed out is Tiyopa not Fiyopa. If anyone has information please let me know.

Lucy's last name is Bu or Bue. Lucy Tiyopa Bue or Bu. Sorry for the confusion.

tiyopa means entrance or door, that which covers the entrance,
bu means to make a noise

here is what I have on Lucy tyopa, Lizzie Bu:
Ref. 1902 Register of Santee Indian Families-Nomahdi(father) dead;Tiyopa-dead,Parents of Samual Walker #876- Age 62 Full Blood; spouse: Julia Thomas Age 69 full blood.
1891 Birch Cooley Census for Prairie Island Settlement:Lizzie Bu Age 50 Single aka Sin***; Lucy Tuyopa-sister-in law is listed with Winona Taka aka Jenny Georgianna- Widow age?
1885 Annuity Roll Mdewakantons April 7, 1885: #40 Lucy Tiyopa Age 70

one of my friends here on the fort peck rez in montana i beleive she said her family connected thru lizzie bu i'll get her e-mail and give it to you tomorrow.

It looks like she is also listed as the mother of a John hoffman on the 1902 census. It appears to be the same father Samuel Walker also.

the listing in the 1891 Birch Cooley Census(what I was able to make out)looks like this:
Sin*** Lizzie Bu Age 50

Tyopa Lucy ? sister-in-law
Tateiciyapewin Julia ? ?
if you can find out who the Jenny above was married to you will have the name of Lucy Tyopa's brother.
I found 2 women with Iciyapewin in their name: Mary Iciyapewin wife of Frances Trudell, and
Josephine Iciyarpewin(the r is silent)born 1841 Faribault MN, Baptized 1863 and died May 6,1904.
I also discovered by going back over my files , that Anna Flute's father Husasa was married at least to 2 other women:kaptewin-dead,they had a son,Garwin whipple; and winona tapo-dead, they had a son Baptiste Whipple. Both sons are listed in the 1887 and 1902 Reg. of Santee Indian Families.Husasa was listed in the 1884 Census at age 84,and living with Garwin Whipple and his family.

Hermin1, I am a LD of Mary Trudell-Iciyapewin. Can you tell me what you know about her, is she related to Lucy Fiyopa? Do you know if they were sisters? Do you know what her maiden name was? I have read some where on this forum that they were possibly a Whipples?  |

josephine Icyarpewin is Josephine Boyde. mary Iciyapewin was the wife of Francis Trudell. I believe that you will find some information on her and the family she had with Francis Trudell, at www.familysearch.org/I believe I have a copy of the marriage record for them recorded by Father C. ravoux at St. peters, Minn. |
